Letters from George Wallis to W. R. Lowe, 1842.

In a long letter Wallis discusses his theories and methods of work, describing his system of observation and drawing from memory. He also discusses a picture by Landseer, the difficulties of using certain colors and mentions his work with the Spitalfields School of Design. In a fragment of another letter he discusses the character of Courvoisier, Good, and Sheridan in light of Brindley's phrenological theories; the letter is illustrated with sketches of the three men.
